As an IOC photographer, I was required to attend all important meetings of the Committee, the Museum and the Olympic Movement, as well as executive committee meetings and the Session, which brought together all members of the Olympic family from around the world once a year.

Une disposition à boucler valise et matériel deux à trois mois par année, également répondre immédiatement aux voeux du Président du cio et du Musée Olympique.

A willingness to pack one’s suitcase and equipment for two to three months each year, as well as to respond immediately to the requests of the IOC President and the Olympic Museum.

Le CIO m’accordait sa confiance, d’autant en ce rôle individuel, photographe unique de rencontres officielles avec telle Reine, Princesse, Prince, Roi ou Empereur ( celui du Japon ), seul parmi les teams photo de ces cours de dignitaires qui devaient prévoir, intégrer un véritable studio à chaque officialité. Costume officiel des anneaux, cravate de mise me suffisaient, Nikon et flaschs en mains.

The IOC placed its trust in me, particularly in this individual role as the sole photographer at official engagements with queens, princesses, princes, kings or emperors (such as the Emperor of Japan) – the only one amongst the photography teams accompanying these dignitaries, who had to set up and incorporate a fully-fledged studio at every official event. The official Olympic rings uniform and a suitable tie were all I needed, with my Nikon and flash units in hand.

Guère enclin aux uniformes j’ai assumé mon rôle avec respect, fierté et une intégrité totale, beaucoup de plaisir aussi, intégré en un monde en marche.

Although not particularly keen on uniforms, I carried out my role with respect, pride and absolute integrity – and with great enjoyment too – as I became part of a world on the move.

Cerise sur le gâteau j’ai photographié quatre Jeux Olympiques été comme hiver, avec bonheur. Le travail des médias aux JO n’a rien à envier à celui des athlètes.

The icing on the cake is that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing four Olympic Games – both summer and winter. The work done by the media at the Olympics is every bit as impressive as that of the athletes.
