l’immense plaisir de côtoyer et discuter amicalement avec l’artiste, DANS LE PARC OU À L’INTÉRIEUR, entouré d’ENFANTS CURIEUX, passionnés, avec Jean-François Pahud, directeur du Musée olympique qui fut d’autant plus attristé à l’heure de mon départ soudain, parce qu’il fut responsable de mon engagement.
the immense pleasure of spending time with and chatting amiably with the artist, IN THE PARK OR INSIDE, surrounded by CURIOUS, enthusiastic CHILDREN, alongside Jean-François Pahud, director of the Olympic Museum, who was all the more saddened by my sudden departure because he had been responsible for my appointment.

What needs to be said:
Lors de l’exposition de Folon au Musée olympique, une époque, une atmosphère très difficile, l’ombre d’un homme en noir et ses sbires planait sur nos têtes, instants douloureux et inadmissibles pour l’ensemble des fidèles collaborateurs du Musée, qui pour nombreux, au total près d’un tiers dont j’ai fait partie, le lendemain suivrait celui déjà subi par d’autres, couperet immédiat les vendredis, fin de journée de travail, veille de week-end sans retour.
During the Folon exhibition at the Olympic Museum, at a time when the atmosphere was very difficult, the shadow of a man in black and his henchmen loomed over our heads – painful and unacceptable moments for all the Museum’s loyal staff, many of whom – nearly a third in total, myself included – would, the very next day, face the same fate already suffered by others: the immediate axe falling on Fridays, at the end of the working day, on the eve of a weekend from which there was no return.
Pour ma part gratifié de deux années de chômage avec une phrase collée en tête, prononcée par le Président du cio, que j’avais servi avec assiduité et bonheur durant douze années, qui m’avait reçu après ce licenciement brutal
« Vous avez une famille, votre devoir est de trouver du travail ».
For my part, I was ‘rewarded’ with two years of unemployment, with one phrase stuck in my head – spoken by the President of the IOC, whom I had served diligently and happily for twelve years, and who had received me after this brutal dismissal:
‘You have a family; it is your duty to find work.’
Plongée immédiate dans un monde inconnu pour quatre mois hors circuit, ce trou porte un doux nom comparé à ses effets violents, dépression. comme d’autres amis et collègues, l’un deux au soir de ce vendredi fatal me proposa avec d’autres de s’attacher aux colonnes du Musée et d’avertir les médias de ce qui se passait au Musée olympique de longue date, ce vendredi nous étions trois nommés par la Direction.
An immediate plunge into an unknown world after four months away from the limelight; this slump has a gentle name compared to its violent effects: depression. Like other friends and colleagues, one of them, on the evening of that fateful Friday, suggested to me and others that we chain ourselves to the columns of the Museum and alert the media to what was happening at the long-established Olympic Museum; that Friday, three of us were appointed by the management.
Plus tard un ami photographe de presse me téléphona afin de connaître les raisons, les vraies, de mon éjection brutale, j’étais incapable de parler, comme menotté déjà par cette fulgurante réalité, les conséquences possibles, encore plus brutales de l’organisation en place, à l’époque.
Later, a friend who was a press photographer rang me to find out the reasons – the real ones – behind my sudden dismissal. I was unable to speak, as if already handcuffed by this shocking reality and the possible, even more brutal consequences from the organisation in power at the time.
Parenthèse fermée, ce qui devait être dit est dit. Salut à tous les amis expulsés, l’une ou l’un après l’autre sans motif, à tous les autres présents encore, dit sans rancoeur ni animosité, à préciser que mes relations avec le CIO et les responsables actuels du Musée Olympique sont excellentes, d’où ces nombreuses photographies que j’ai choisies sur mon site web en respect des droits octroyés.
That aside, what needed to be said has been said. Greetings to all my friends who were expelled, one after the other without cause, and to all the others still there – said without rancour or animosity. I should point out that my relations with the IOC and the current management of the Olympic Museum are excellent, hence the many photographs I have selected for my website in accordance with the rights granted.
Je profite ici de rendre un hommage sincère et amical à la loyauté d’un homme qui m’a témoigné son soutien contre vents et marées, homme disparu aujourd’hui, Maître Carrard, Directeur général du CIO. Je lui avais demandé plus tard si j’avais porté plainte à l’encontre de mon éjection et surtout parce qu’il avait été témoin des mois auparavant d’un acte de dénonciation totalement faussé à mon encontre et en ma présence, réponse de sa part, très possible obtention d’un fort dédommagement !
I would like to take this opportunity to pay a sincere and heartfelt tribute to the loyalty of a man who stood by me through thick and thin, a man who is no longer with us today, Maître Carrard, Director General of the IOC. I later asked him whether I should have lodged a complaint regarding my dismissal, particularly as he had witnessed, months earlier, a completely fabricated accusation made against me in my presence; his reply was that it was highly likely I could secure substantial compensation!
